Modern jet engines monitor the fuel-to-air mixture, the temperature of combustion, and optimize the distribution of fuel to assure the most efficient and environmentally friendly operation. The cables that provide the power and data transmission in these applications are exposed to extremely harsh environments - high temperatures, shock and vibration, high decibel noise, and the possibility of mechanical damage from fast rotating components. Icore designs and manufactures protected electrical cables for these applications that can withstand the most punishing environments and function flawlessly.
Icore manufactures some of the most unique electrical cables used in a wide variety of today's jet and turboprop aircraft engines, auxiliary power units (APU), and for military ground vehicle motors.
Using thermocouple wire and lightweight packaging technology, Icore has been able to remove up to 20% of the weight of a typical engine cabling system. Using our CATIA V5 design capability, Icore has the ability to fully integrate a complex cable with the customer's engine design, thus reducing the development time and mitigating costly design changes. Our engineers are working directly from the CAD models developed by our customers, making Icore a preferred partner in the design and manufacture of the engine cable system over the life of a program.
Icore cable construction can range from 150 C (302 F) service use to 260C (500F), depending upon the materials chosen for the application.
